Lexi Strauss
Lexi Strauss is a British multimedia artist whose practice encompasses animation, installation, performance, puppetry, and painting. She completed a BA in Fine Art at Hereford College (2009–11) and an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in London (2012–14). Her artworks combine surreal, political and personal narratives. Sources for her practice include interviews, imagined worlds and political narratives. She also incorporates clown and playful, subversive performances into her practice, further delving into the inherent playfulness of the arts and exploring the idea that truths can be uncovered through absurdity.
Strauss has received several awards, including the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the John Moores Painting Prize. She has also been nominated for Saatchi New Sensations (2014) and was shortlisted for New Contemporaries (2013).Strauss also lectures and tutors at Hereford College of Arts and elsewhere in the UK. She has lived in Malvern since the early 2000s.
